My father is 73 years old and retired from government service. He started complaining of pain and swelling in his right knee from March 2020. He started treatment from local orthopaedic doctor, but his pain started worsening over a period of time. He could not sleep for nights because of the pain and the swelling kept on increasing. The doctor advised him for MRI. The MRI report suggested some malignancy in lower end of right femur. We got his biopsy done from a surgical oncologist and the report suggested it is a case of Osteosarcoma. I started searching for a good orthopaedic oncologist on net. I shortlisted two doctors and finally decided to consult Dr. Rajat Gupta. I had a phone call with him and forwarded all the reports to him. He advised us to have a PET scan and meet him in his clinic.PET scan showed malignancy in the lower end of right femur only. Dr. Rajat Gupta, a thorough gentleman, having complete knowledge of his subject and clear in his mind how to proceed suggested my father to have a limb salvage surgery in which the affected part of bone will be removed and replaced by a megaprosthesis. Finally after getting all the preliminary tests and scans done the date for operation was fixed on 7th of August 2020 at Fortis Mohali. The operation continued throughout the day and father came out of the OT around 4 pm. The operation was a success. The very next day Dr. Rajat made him to start walking with a walker. After a stay of about 5 days at the hospital, he was discharged. Under the guidance of Dr. Rajat and with his strong willpower my father kept on improving and started walking normally without any support. Dr. Rajat then guided us to consult one of his colleagues who is a medical oncologist and go for chemotherapy. My father underwent six cycles of chemotherapy and has just recently completed them. On every cycle of chemotherapy Dr. Rajat gave a personal visit to see his progress.
In the end I would like to say that I have no words how to describe Dr. Rajat Gupta because throughout the treatment and now also he has responded each and everytime I have asked him for suggestions regarding my father’s treatment.
Any person having any type of bone related tumor kindly give one try to Dr. Rajat Gupta, you won’t repent. This is my sincere advice.
